Amazing arrivals Thailand

July 5th, 2011

According to the latest report by TTG Asia, Thailand is still a popular destination and the marketing efforts have paid off. Their slogan, Amazing Thailand, achieved last year over 15 Million foreign visitors, which will likely be surplussed this coming year with 19.5 Million foreign arrivals.

The old slogan, Amazing Thailand, is good for 24.85 Billion USD in revenue next year. Again it shows how important Tourism is for the region and that strategic planning and management is key to take a good share of this revenue.  The TAT is planning to introduce two key marketing messages for the Asian and one for the US and European market. In addition they too have seen the importance of the digital marketing and will focusing more of their strategy on social network channels as Facebook.

Choosing the rights strategy is a key success factor to achieve your marketing plans. Though social media is still very weak in their contribution to the decision making process in the tourism industry according to a research done by Google. The word of mouth is still the number one.

Thailand will achieve Target?

January 22nd, 2010

The Toursim Authority of Thailand (TAT) is announcing that it is to be expected that Thailand will achieve its target on international visitor arrivals. The official target set at 14 million visitors, is likely to be overrulled by 1 -1.5 Million visitors. Early reports issued by the TAT shows that if there are no political disturbances or epidemics Thailand will be able to welcome 15 Million to 15.5 Milllion international visitors in 2010. Also the domestic tourism is expected to grow in 2010.

The  Phuket Tourism Authority (PTA) announced earlier that there are more toursits, but spending less. Ending 2009 many comapnies complained about the low average spenditure by the tourist.  TAT will look into ways to attract the “Big Spenders” by their new slogon Amazing Thailand, Amazing Value. They hope to attract the shoppers to let them spend their money in Thialand on domestic products.

Thailand arrivals pick up, recovery in sight?

November 25th, 2009

While the TAT was very optimistic in October about the target set up 14 Million arrival for Thailand this year, the ATTA is a bit more conservative. There can be seen a positive growth and the earlier mention 20% drop will not be achieved.

According to the ATTA (Association of Thai Travel Agents) the arrivals target of foreign visitors will remain on 11.5 Million visitors, still less then the expectations by the Ministry of Tourism. For the first 10 months of this year we have seen a drop of 10% compared to the same period last year. The big losses have been made in the beginning of the year as September and October show a growth rate of 16% and 10% respectively.

It is too early to speak about a recovery, but the number show that Thailand is still a favored destination, despite the crisis. The combined effort of airliners and hotels to adapt their rates definitely paid off. Markets as Germany and UK are still traveling, their decline is very small. The main Asian markets as Japan, China and South Korea dropped by 18% to 40%. We have seen the biggest growth for India, 5.5% up.

The figures which have been analyzed are from January 1st till October 31st, still much can happen as the high and peak season are not included.
